Celebrate Veterans Upward Bound Day in Oro Valley

National Association of Veterans Upward Bound Day Celebrated in Oro Valley

Hey Oro Valley! We have some exciting news to share about our community’s contribution to supporting U.S. military veterans. There’s a fantastic program called Veterans Upward Bound (VUB), which is supported by the National Association of Veterans Upward Bound (NAVUB). This program is all about helping veterans tap into their full potential and succeed in college.

Veterans Upward Bound projects pop up all across the country, thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Education. There are 60 of these projects nationwide, including one right next door in Tucson. These projects provide valuable resources and support for veterans ready to dive into post-secondary education.

This year, the Westward Look Resort in Oro Valley was chosen to host the 44th NAVUB Conference. This annual event is a big deal, focusing on the professional growth of VUB staff. The conference theme, “A Time to Reset: Resilience, Recalibration, and Realignment,” reflects the hope that attendees will leave with fresh ideas and best practices to implement in their work.

To recognize this important event and the efforts of Veterans Upward Bound, our Mayor Joseph C. Winfield has proclaimed April 26, 2022, as National Association of Veterans Upward Bound Day right here in Oro Valley! It’s a day to celebrate the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in these invaluable projects.
