Ribbon Cutting Celebration at Steam Pump Ranch
Mark your calendars! The Town of Oro Valley is hosting a ribbon-cutting event at Steam Pump Ranch to celebrate the completion of the BBQ and Bunkhouse restoration. Join us on Tuesday, July 18, at 10 a.m. to see the newly restored spaces in action. This project is part of the Steam Pump Ranch Master Plan, working to give the public access to areas previously closed off.
Everyone is welcome to this outdoor event, which will take place on the patio and lawn on the east side of the BBQ building. You can park in the lot at Steam Pump Ranch, near the farmers market area. Look out for signs directing you to the celebration spot.
About the Project
Steam Pump Ranch, a cherished part of our community, was purchased by the Town in 2008. A year later, it earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. Since then, it has seen various restoration projects aimed at preserving its history and making it accessible to all.
The latest improvements focus on the BBQ and Bunkhouse. The bunkhouse, once home to ranch staff, is now a versatile space for events and activities. Public restrooms have been added to boost convenience. Meanwhile, the BBQ area has been reopened to its original state, with shaded spots for picnics and small gatherings. Steam Pump Ranch is open every day from sunrise to sunset. Staff are available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The ranch hosts the Heirloom Farmers Market every Saturday and is the site for the Pusch House museum, run by the Oro Valley Historical Society.
