For the fifteenth year in a row, the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) is teaming up with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 53 (FOP) for the beloved “Shop with a Teacher” event. This wonderful annual tradition is set for Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. Head over to the Oro Valley Target at 10555 N. Oracle Road to be part of the fun.
Thirteen schools, both private and public, in Oro Valley will each receive $150 from the FOP to help with classroom supplies. The goal is to assist teachers with materials, so they don’t have to dip into their own wallets. This event highlights the community’s commitment to education and safety, especially through the efforts of OVPD’s well-regarded School Resource Officers Unit. Chief Daniel Sharp shares, “Serving our community’s children has always been a priority. This event is a meaningful way to provide for our dedicated teachers and give back.”
This year, the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce is joining in for the fifth time, gifting each teacher a Target gift card. Chamber President and CEO Dave Perry points out, “Our members understand that today’s teachers shape tomorrow’s leaders. We’re happy to support them with the supplies they need for success.”
Mark your calendars and support this heartwarming community initiative!
