Run for Mayor or Town Council in Oro Valley!
If you’re an Oro Valley resident with a passion for local government, here’s your chance! The town is gearing up for the fall 2022 elections, and you could throw your hat in the ring for Mayor or a spot on the Town Council.
To get started, you’ll need a Candidate Handbook. You can pick one up at the Town Clerk’s Office in Town Hall, located at 11000 N. La Cañada Drive. Just make sure to schedule an appointment with Town Clerk Mike Standish by emailing him at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or by calling 520-229-4700.
What You Need to Know
In this election, one Mayoral seat and three Council seats are up for grabs. To qualify as a candidate, you must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter, and have lived in Oro Valley for at least a year before the election.
Once elected, the new members will step into their roles after the vote is officially confirmed. They’ll be sworn in at the first Council meeting following the General Election on November 8, 2022.
How to Get on the Ballot
To officially run, you’ll need to collect signatures on a nomination petition. The magic number is between 429 and 858 signatures. You can begin turning in your nomination papers starting March 7, 2022, and the deadline is 5 p.m. on April 4, 2022.
The Primary Election is set for August 2, 2022, so get ready to hit the campaign trail!
