Oro Valley Community Celebrates New Sports Facilities
Hey, Oro Valley! Get ready to celebrate some exciting new developments at our very own Community and Recreation Center. On Wednesday, October 26, at 10 a.m., we’re cutting the ribbon on two fantastic projects: the Conquistador Golf Irrigation Project and the Tennis and Pickleball Court Reconstruction and Expansion. The event will take place at the Community and Recreation Center located at 10555 N. La Cañada Drive.
Join us for a morning filled with community spirit and a chance to hear from Mayor Joe Winfield, Parks and Recreation Director Kristy Diaz-Trahan, and Public Works Director Paul Keesler. After their remarks, the Mayor and Council will officially open the new facilities, starting at the Tennis and Pickleball courts and moving on to the golf driving range.
Feeling lucky? You can enter a free drawing for a chance to win one of three gift baskets—perfect for fans of pickleball, golf, or tennis. Plus, grab a commemorative Oro Valley sticker that showcases your favorite sport. Remember, you need to be present to win!
For more details about the ribbon-cutting, feel free to email [email protected] or call 520-229-5050. To keep up with all the Town’s Park Bond Projects, including the Naranja Park Expansion, visit the Oro Valley website and search for PARK BOND.
Project Highlights:
Conquistador Golf Irrigation: The irrigation system at the Conquistador Golf Course has been completely revamped. From new pipes to upgraded controls and communication wires, everything is in place. This marks phase 1, which started in May and wrapped up in late September. Phase 2 will tackle upgrades at the Cañada Golf Course next year.
Tennis and Pickleball Court Improvements: Sports enthusiasts will love the four brand-new pickleball courts. The existing courts have been transformed with durable post-tension concrete surfaces, promising better playability and less maintenance over time. New shade structures and accessible walkways are also in place. The work began in May and will finish in early November, with the courts opening up for play mid-November.
We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate these exciting upgrades together!
