Oro Valley Cancels July 4th Events; Fireworks Postponed

Oro Valley Fireworks Postponed

The Fourth of July fireworks show in Oro Valley has been postponed due to the ongoing Bighorn Fire. Town officials haven’t set a new date yet, but they’ll let everyone know once plans are in place.

“Our timing just isn’t right for fireworks,” said Town Manager Mary Jacobs. “We’re grateful for our partner, Golder Ranch Fire District, and everything they do. While we know this is disappointing, safety comes first. We’ll find a time later this year to celebrate our nation’s birthday together.”

Originally, the fireworks were to be launched at Naranja Park on July 4th, although no spectators were allowed. The Town had already called off other celebration activities planned for that day.

“The safety of the public and our firefighters is our top priority,” shared Golder Ranch Fire Chief Randy Karrer. “We hope our community can celebrate safely in a fun and unique way this summer.”

Oro Valley Parks and Recreation Updates

The Town’s Parks and Recreation Department has cancelled its Movies on the Lawn series, which was set to start on June 20, due to rising COVID-19 cases. Movies scheduled for July 18 and August 14 are also cancelled. They’re working on rescheduling these as drive-in movies, so stay tuned!

Additionally, the Round up at the Ranch 2020 5k run/walk, planned for July 19, is no longer happening.
