Oro Valley’s Transit Services Rolls Out New Online Passenger Portal
Oro Valley residents have a new way to book their rides with the launch of the Transit Services Division’s Passenger Portal. This handy online tool lets you reserve your rides, check out upcoming trips, and even track buses in real time. Want to learn all about it? Check out our in-person trainings listed below.
About the Passenger Portal
This portal isn’t an app, but you can easily access it on your computer, tablet, or phone. The goal is to make things simpler for everyone, from the general public to seniors and those with disabilities. While you can still call Transit Services to book a ride, this portal takes over the previous online reservation system.
Before, passengers had to fill out an online form and wait for a call back. Now, the portal allows you to handle your reservations directly. Plus, it shows all your booked trips, so no more calling to ask about future rides. If plans change, you can adjust pickup times or cancel a ride through the portal up to 24 hours in advance. Need to make changes within 24 hours? Just call 520-229-4990. You can also track buses in real time to see when they’ll pick you up and drop you off.
Getting Started with the Passenger Portal
*Step 1: Obtain a Client ID*
First, you’ll need a Client ID. If you’ve used the old system, you should already have one. New riders can get a Client ID by heading to orovalleyaz.gov and searching “NEED A RIDE.” First-timers can register by filling out this form. A staff member will reach out with your unique Client ID. Keep it safe, as you’ll need it to book your rides.
*Step 2: Register Online or by Phone*
To register online, visit the Passenger Portal and click “REGISTER NOW.” Fill out your details, and a team member will confirm your registration. Prefer to register by phone? Call 520-229-4990 Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. After registering, you’ll have access to the portal in both English and Spanish anytime.
Passenger Portal Training Opportunities
To get familiar with the portal, attend one of the training sessions at Oro Valley Library’s Bill Adler meeting room (1305 W. Naranja Drive):

Can’t make it? No worries! A video walkthrough is available online.
Passenger Portal Funding
The Federal Transit Administration, through the Arizona Department of Transportation, awarded a grant to Oro Valley in June 2021 to create this portal. Competing with other communities, Oro Valley secured this grant, which covered 80% of the $75,730 project cost. The Town covered the rest.
About Oro Valley’s Transit Services Division
Oro Valley partners with the Regional Transportation Authority to provide Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride services, which offer free, point-to-point rides for everyone.
