Oro Valley Offers Informative Zoom Sessions for Short-Term Rental Owners
The Town of Oro Valley is hosting two online Q&A sessions for short-term rental owners to get up to speed with the new licensing rules. These sessions are set for March 8, and you can join in via Zoom at either 9 a.m. or 3 p.m. You only need to attend one since they’ll cover the same topics.
During these sessions, the Town staff will break down the essentials: short-term rental definitions, licensing steps, deadlines, and the application process. Plus, you’ll have a chance to ask your burning questions.
The new ordinance, which covers rentals like Airbnb and VRBO, was green-lighted by the Town Council on January 4 and became active on February 3. However, Town officials are giving everyone until May 5 to get everything sorted before enforcement kicks in on May 6.

How to Register Your Short-Term Rental
Getting your short-term rental license is similar to applying for a business license in Oro Valley. Gather your necessary documents, notify your neighbors about your rental plans, and make sure you have insurance and proper registration with the Pima County Assessor. You’ll also need a form of ID. The annual fee is $80, matching the cost of a regular business license in town.
For more details, check out the press release announcing the ordinance. You can also find more info on the Town’s short-term rental regulations webpage or start your application online.
If you have any questions during this 90-day adjustment period, feel free to reach out to Sarah Cox at (520) 229-4831 or drop an email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).
