The Town of Oro Valley is thrilled to share some exciting news. We’re moving forward with plans for a new 202-acre outdoor space, formerly the Vistoso Golf Course. The top 10 names have been chosen, and now it’s your turn to help us decide. We invite Oro Valley residents to vote on their favorites in the second round of our naming contest. Just head to the voting link below and pick up to three names. Be sure to vote by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Remember, you’ll need to provide your name and street address to ensure you’re a local voter.
In the first round, we received an overwhelming response with more than 1,500 name suggestions. A diverse committee, including members from the Town Council, Town Staff, Youth Advisory Council, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and Preserve Vistoso, narrowed it down to the top 10. After this second round of voting, the three names with the most votes will be presented to the Oro Valley Town Council for a final decision at their May 18, 2022 meeting. The person behind the winning name will take home a prize package worth over $1,700.

Property Background
Since June 2020, Oro Valley has been working hard to secure the future of the former Vistoso Course. The Town Council initially directed the Town Manager to partner with The Conservation Fund (TCF) and Romspen Vistoso LLC to preserve the area. Although initial talks didn’t work out, the Town kept pushing forward. With renewed efforts from TCF, negotiations with Romspen, a new developer for the former clubhouse site, and generous community donations, a settlement was reached. This paved the way for a 202-acre public space dedicated to activities like walking, biking, and birding. Learn more about the settlement and the purchase in our February 17, 2022 press release here.
