Oro Valley & Marana Win Top Tourism Partnership Award

Oro Valley and Marana Team Up for a Winning Ride

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news for our local community! Oro Valley and Marana have been recognized with the Governor’s Tourism Award for Best Tourism Partnership. This honor, given by the Arizona Office of Tourism, celebrates their joint efforts in promoting Northern Pima County as a top spot for cycling enthusiasts.

Cycling Adventures in Our Backyard

It all started in 2022 when Oro Valley became a stage host for the Tucson Bicycle Classic. Building on that success, Marana joined in to create a unique regional experience. Together, they now host the popular Tucson Bicycle Classic and Project Echelon Grand Fondo Ride, which supports veterans. These events draw cyclists from across the country, boosting our local tourism and economy.

Community Spirit and Leadership

The partnership between Oro Valley and Discover Marana, Marana’s official destination marketing group, has been fueled by a shared dream to make Northern Pima County a cycling haven. By working together on permits, marketing, and collaborations with cycling influencers, they’ve made this vision a reality.

Stefanie Boe, Tourism Manager for Marana, shared, “We’re grateful to Oro Valley for expanding the Tucson Bicycle Classic to Marana. It’s a world-class event that benefits our local economy and community spirit. We can’t wait to keep this partnership going.”

Paul Melcher, Oro Valley’s Community and Economic Development Director, added, “Our work with Marana has not just boosted cycling’s profile but also strengthened our community and economy. We’re eager to keep bringing more events and visitors to our beautiful county.”

A Bright Future for Tourism

Thanks to this dynamic partnership, Northern Pima County is thriving as a tourist destination. The cycling events have drawn in thousands, spotlighting the natural beauty and recreational opportunities our towns offer. The success of these events highlights the power of regional cooperation in boosting tourism and delivering unforgettable experiences for everyone.
