Oro Valley Releases Amendment 7 To Emergency Proclamation

Oro Valley Releases Amendment #7 to Emergency Proclamation

Oro Valley Adopts New Face Covering Guidelines

Hey, Oro Valley! There’s an important update that came from the Town earlier today. The Town has issued Amendment #7 to the March 17, 2020, Mayor’s Emergency Proclamation. This means Oro Valley is now officially following parts of the Pima County Board of Supervisor’s Resolution 2020-49 when it comes to wearing face coverings.

The goal of Amendment #7 is pretty straightforward. It’s all about making sure we wear face coverings whenever we can’t keep at least six feet apart from others. The idea is to keep everyone safe and help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

There are some exceptions to this rule, which were outlined in the March 19, 2020, Board of Supervisor’s Resolution 2020-49. You can find a detailed list of these exceptions here.

If you notice anyone not following these guidelines, the Pima County Health Department is your go-to place for reporting violations. They’ve set up a Business and Community Reporting Form on their website for this purpose. Just remember, they won’t accept anonymous complaints.

Both Oro Valley and Pima County are focusing on educating the community about these rules rather than jumping straight to enforcement. The County Board of Supervisors highlighted that while they discussed enforcement, they prefer to guide establishments first. Any legal actions would need the Board’s approval.

Importantly, please remember not to call 911 for questions or reports about face covering violations. We need to keep those lines clear for real emergencies.
