Oro Valley Unites for Diaper Need Awareness Week
This week, Oro Valley is opening its arms to help families in need. As part of Diaper Need Awareness Week, the town is collecting diaper donations for the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona. You can drop off diapers at various locations around town or send them directly through Amazon.

Understanding the Diaper Need
Diaper need is not having enough clean diapers for infants and toddlers, which can impact their health and well-being. Research shows that one in three families faces this challenge, and nearly half delay diaper changes to stretch their supply. Babies and toddlers require six to twelve diapers a day for the first few years of their lives. For families with low incomes, buying enough diapers can take up 14% of their post-tax earnings.
The Oro Valley community recognizes diaper need as a public health issue. Addressing it can lead to better economic opportunities and healthier children, ensuring all kids and families have what they need to thrive.
A Call to Action
During the pandemic, the demand for diapers soared. Diaper banks worked tirelessly to increase their distributions and help those in dire need. In light of this, Mayor Joseph C. Winfield has proclaimed September 21-27, 2020, as Diaper Need Awareness Week in Oro Valley.
We express our gratitude to the diaper banks, their dedicated staff, volunteers, and generous donors for their outstanding service. Let’s continue their work by donating generously to diaper banks and drives. Together, we can help every child and family in Oro Valley.
