Oro Valley’s Latest Measures in Response to COVID-19
Oro Valley Mayor Joe Winfield has made some updates to his recent emergency proclamation. These changes are in line with decisions from the Pima County Board of Supervisors at their special meeting on March 19.
Mayor Winfield said, “Our region’s aim is to manage COVID-19 effectively. We’re constantly reviewing guidelines to decide when new measures are needed. Our County Board has deemed these precautions necessary, so Oro Valley will follow their lead.”
The updated guidelines require that restaurants and cafes switch to take-out, curbside, or delivery services only. No more dining in is allowed. Bars, theaters, and gyms will also be closed for now. Mayor Winfield thanked local businesses for their efforts in reducing the virus’s spread and encouraged continued support for local eateries and shops.
Businesses, churches, and other organizations are advised to limit gatherings and practice social distancing. It’s suggested that no more than 10 people gather at a time. These rules are set to be in effect until March 31, 2020.
