Oro Valley’s Upcoming Budget: What You Need to Know
Hey Oro Valley residents! Exciting news: the Town Manager’s Recommended Budget for the 2024/25 fiscal year is now ready for you to check out online. You can dive into the details by viewing the budget document here.
Let’s break down some numbers. The General Fund, which keeps our town running smoothly, is set at $53.1 million. This is a slight decrease of 4.1% compared to last year. Overall, the budget totals $156.4 million, covering everything from highways and water to parks, grants, and more.
Why the decrease? Well, towns across Arizona, including ours, are dealing with changes in state income taxes, leading to less shared revenue for local municipalities. But don’t worry, our town is planning carefully to manage these changes while still meeting community needs.
Inflation is still a challenge, affecting costs in areas like water delivery, healthcare, and street maintenance. The budget for FY 2024/25 is designed to handle these challenges while staying focused on our town’s priorities.
Here’s what the budget is focusing on this year:
– Public Safety: Ensuring our first responders have the best training, equipment, and wellness support remains a top priority. The focus is also on community education and safety awareness.
– Parks and Recreation: We’re investing in our beautiful parks and trails and encouraging residents of all ages to enjoy the recreation programs available.
– Roads: Our successful Pavement Preservation Program will continue to receive funding, ensuring our roads remain in top condition.
– Water: The Water Utility will keep advancing efforts with the Northwest Recharge, Recovery, and Delivery System.
