Oro Valley’s Balanced Budget for FY 2022/23 Unveiled

Oro Valley Budget for 2022/23 Outlines New Initiatives

The Town of Oro Valley has shared its Town Manager’s Recommended Budget for the 2022/23 fiscal year, totaling $159.2 million. To dive into the full budget details, you can check out the document here.

This year’s budget comes in $2.8 million lower than last year, marking a 1.7% decrease. The General Fund sees a significant reduction, down 12% to $51.6 million from last year’s $58.9 million. The budget addresses rising costs across the board—supplies, operations, and maintenance—and supports new employee roles to keep up with the growing demand for town services. A big focus is on capital investment, backed by a $25 million bond for Parks and Recreation and other one-time revenues.

In his message, the Town Manager notes the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, global instability from the Russian-Ukraine conflict, and potential economic downturns. Despite these hurdles, Oro Valley remains committed to conservative revenue forecasts, especially in non-essential areas that might be hit first if costs climb. Interestingly, sales taxes are expected to be 19% higher, thanks largely to inflation’s impact on local buying habits. The budget is designed to maintain the high-quality services residents love, including exciting new recreational facilities for locals and visitors alike.

If you want to be part of the conversation, several public meetings will be held at the Oro Valley Town Hall, located at 11000 N. La Cañada Drive. Everyone is welcome to attend and share their thoughts.

For those who prefer speaking at the meetings, you have two options: attend in person and fill out a blue card available in the Council Chambers, or join virtually via Zoom. If you choose Zoom, you need to register at least 24 hours before the meeting by completing a virtual speaker card, with registration links available in each meeting’s agenda posted on the Town’s website a week in advance. More details on the virtual speaker card are available here. If you can’t make it to the meetings but want to share your input, feel free to email your comments to [email protected].
