Oro Valley’s Own: The Vibrant World of Micford
Mickey, fondly known as Micford in the art world, found his passion for drawing early on. It all started with a request to paint a Donald Duck mural for a neighbor. With no formal training, Mickey brought the beloved character to life, impressing his neighbor and sparking a lifelong love for art.
While Mickey made his mark as a building contractor and developer, his flair for architectural design naturally merged with his artistic talents. This blend led him to explore a unique style of controlled abstract art. His work is known for its vibrant colors, geometric forms, and flowing images. Micford skips the sketches, diving straight into painting, often starting at the center of the canvas and letting his creativity guide him.
He enjoys hearing different interpretations of his art. When asked about the stories behind his paintings, he cheerfully says, “I lay the foundation and build the framework, and you are encouraged to enjoy and decide what you see.”
Micford paints with archival oil on canvas and collaborates with an art coach. His work has been displayed at places like the Jewish Community Center, Tucson International Airport, Skyline Country Club, and various banks, restaurants, and libraries across the area.
For those interested in experiencing his vibrant art, Micford warmly invites you to observe, absorb, and enjoy his creations.
