IMPACT Volunteers Delivers Meals

Volunteer Opportunities in Oro Valley: How IMPACT Delivers Meals and Hope to Local Seniors

In our relationships with friends and loved ones, we often do things for each other without expecting anything in return. There’s a natural give-and-take, a quiet understanding that the kindness we offer will one day circle back.

But what happens when that balance is disrupted — when someone can’t return the favor in the usual ways? This is where true charity begins.

John Wooden once said, “You’ve not lived a perfect day until you’ve done something for someone who cannot repay you.” That’s the heart of what volunteering is all about: giving for the sake of giving.

IMPACT of Southern Arizona: Serving Seniors and Families in Need

IMPACT of Southern Arizona is a nonprofit organization helping vulnerable communities in Catalina, SaddleBrooke, Sun City, and surrounding areas. From meal delivery to senior transportation, the organization provides critical services with a small staff and a big volunteer force.

In their Oro Valley commercial kitchen, volunteers prepare and deliver approximately 90 hot meals every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday to homebound seniors — many of whom would struggle to cook for themselves.

But IMPACT’s reach goes further. With fewer than 12 paid staff members and over 170 volunteer shifts weekly, they also operate:

  • Food and clothing banks
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
  • Job resource and resume support centers
  • Senior rides and transportation services
  • Community events throughout the year

Why People Volunteer in Oro Valley

What motivates someone to volunteer with no expectation of return? For many, it’s the satisfaction of knowing their effort directly helps another person live more comfortably and with dignity.

“Volunteering is a pure joy. It’s about doing something for someone else without expecting anything in return. It’s about making a real difference in the lives of people who need help the most.”

“Delivering meals with IMPACT is like a breath of fresh air. It’s so rewarding to feed someone who can’t feed themselves. The gratitude you receive in return is priceless.”

“Volunteering at IMPACT means being part of something bigger than yourself. It takes a village, and we’re all working together for the greater good.”

Real Testimonials from Those Who Receive Help

While the volunteers give their time and energy, the recipients of IMPACT’s services feel deeply supported — often in life-changing ways.

“I’m on Social Security, and this program is a great help financially. Without it, I’d be in a very tough spot. IMPACT is truly a lifesaver for me.”

“Health problems have made everyday tasks almost impossible. Thanks to IMPACT’s Meal Delivery, I don’t have to worry about where my next meal is coming from.”

It’s more than a warm meal — it’s human dignity, delivered by a neighbor who cares.
