Join Oro Valley for a Community Chat on Mental Health
Hey Oro Valley! Mark your calendars for an important event on Tuesday, August 9th at 6 p.m. The Town of Oro Valley is hosting a Community Conversation on Mental Health. It’s happening right at the Oro Valley Council Chambers, located at 11000 N. La Cañada Drive.
This is the first event of its kind, organized by the Oro Valley Parks and Recreation Department. You’ll have the chance to hear from a diverse panel featuring representatives from the Oro Valley Police Department, Golder Ranch Fire District, Arizona Complete Health, and some local mental health experts.
Everyone in the community is welcome to join in and learn about the mental health resources available right here in Oro Valley. It’s a great opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations and get your questions answered by the panel. The event is free and open to all, and if you can’t make it in person, you’re welcome to join virtually through Zoom. Details are provided below.
Kristy Diaz-Trahan, our very own Parks and Recreation Director, shared her insights saying, “In recent years, mental health has become a big topic everywhere from TV to kitchen table discussions. We know that connecting with others and with nature can help manage anxiety, and during crises, people often call 911. My vision for this event is to create a community conversation around mental health, highlighting what Parks and Recreation can offer, and to provide resources for emergencies. We want to bring professionals into the conversation to ensure it’s inclusive and helpful for everyone.”
