Local High School Faces Social Media Threat
On September 14, 2024, the Oro Valley Police Department responded to a concerning situation at Canyon Del Oro High School. A threat had been posted on Instagram, prompting the Amphitheater School District to receive several anonymous tips about it.
After a swift investigation by the OVPD, they identified the account owner as a 15-year-old student. This student was arrested for making a terroristic threat and disrupting an educational facility. Although the student admitted to making the post, they claimed it wasn’t intended to threaten or harm anyone.
