The Oro Valley Theater Company is gearing up to present Ira Levin’s classic thriller, *Deathtrap*, at the Gaslight Music Hall next month. Originally hitting Broadway in 1978, this play has made its mark as the longest-running thriller in Broadway history. It even snagged four Tony Award nominations and was turned into a major film starring Christopher Reeve and Michael Caine.
The plot centers around Sidney Bruhl, a successful playwright who finds himself in a financial pinch after his latest show flops. When his student, Clifford Anderson, sends him a promising new script, Sidney jokes with his wife about killing Clifford to steal the play for himself. He then invites Clifford over, supposedly to offer some guidance.
*Deathtrap* earned its place among Broadway’s top hits, running for four years with over 1,800 performances. Audiences worldwide have since enjoyed its gripping mix of murder, deception, and clever dialogue. It’s a show packed with suspense and dark humor, and it’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
The Oro Valley Theater Company, under Artistic Director Judi Rodman, has been bringing fantastic productions to the stage since their first play, *Our Town*, in 2017.
