Join the 14th Annual Shop with a Teacher in Oro Valley!

For the 14th year in a row, the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 53 (FOP) are teaming up for the much-loved “Shop with a Teacher” event. Set your calendars for Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. and head over to the Oro Valley Target at 10555 N. Oracle Road.

This community-focused event helps teachers from 11 private and public schools in Oro Valley by giving each of them $200 to spend on supplies for the school year. It’s all about making sure our kids have the resources they need, without teachers having to pay out of their own pockets. Chief Daniel Sharp emphasized the importance of this event, highlighting the strong commitment of OVPD to both education and safety. “Serving the children of this great community is a priority for the police department,” he said. “Shop with a Teacher has always been a great event, and it truly is an honor to give back to our community by providing needed supplies to the wonderful men and women who teach our kids.”

Adding to the effort, the Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce is stepping in for the fifth year with a $300 donation to support the cause. Dave Perry, the Chamber’s president and CEO, noted recent improvements in Arizona’s school funding, but emphasized the importance of local support. “It’s also important for our Chamber and the business community to assist, helping teachers defray their classroom expenses with a gift card,” he explained. “Together, we can begin to build the resources our children need to succeed.”
