Oro Valley Teams Up with Golder Ranch Fire District for Wildfire Safety Event
In an effort to keep Oro Valley residents safe and informed about wildfires, the Town of Oro Valley is partnering with the Golder Ranch Fire District. On Friday, March 14, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m., they’ll be hosting a free Wildfire Safety Community Q&A at the Oro Valley Town Hall Council Chambers.
What to Expect:
Residents will hear from GRFD Fire Chief Tom Brandhuber, Wildland Fire Coordinator Captain Colin Port, and Fire Marshal Jennifer Akins. This team of experts will share crucial tips on wildfire safety, strategies for protecting your home, and resources to help everyone stay prepared.
Fire Chief Brandhuber shared, “We know wildfires concern our residents, and through this Q&A, we aim to answer questions, provide essential safety info, and assure everyone that we’re ready to handle wildfires. Our main goal is to help residents feel secure about their homes and families.”
After the presentation, there will be time for residents to ask questions and chat with experts from both the Golder Ranch Fire District and the Town. They’ll also discuss results from a recent wildfire risk assessment of the Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve, which found a low risk for fire reaching structures in Oro Valley.
Town Manager Jeff Wilkins noted, “Public safety is our priority in Oro Valley. Partnering with the Golder Ranch Fire District is vital in protecting our community. Together, we’re reducing wildfire risks and enhancing emergency readiness.”
Residents are encouraged to attend and learn about the Ready, Set, Go! system, the Wildfire Hazard Rating Form, and the GRFD Homeowner’s Guide to Fire Protection and Insurance Considerations.
For years, the Golder Ranch Fire District has provided first responder and fire safety services to Oro Valley. Together, they’ve worked hard to ensure public safety. This event highlights their commitment to fire prevention and emergency response in our community.
