Celebrate Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve with a Ribbon Cutting
Hello, Oro Valley! Mark your calendars for a special event on Friday, July 15. Our community is gathering for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve, formerly known as the Vistoso Golf Course. This beautiful open space is ready to welcome residents and visitors for activities like walking, biking, and bird watching.
Join us at 8:30 a.m. for the ceremony, which will take place just behind the old clubhouse. You can park at 945 W. Vistoso Highlands. The event is a tribute to the community’s hard work in acquiring this property, and you’ll hear from Town Manager Mary Jacobs, Parks and Recreation Director Kristy Diaz-Trahan, and Mayor Joe Winfield.
Back in February 2022, Oro Valley finalized the purchase of this 202-acre property. Initially acquired by The Conservation Fund (TCF), they, along with a landscaping company, helped clean up the area. Now, the Town is officially taking over maintenance and operations.
Exciting improvements are on the way! We’ll be upgrading pathways and maintaining the open space. A temporary trailhead is set up near the old clubhouse on a 6.3-acre parcel owned by Ross Rulney, so remember that access is temporary. Unfortunately, restrooms are closed for now as we work on improvements, including making them ADA accessible.
Come fall, we’ll start planning the future of Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve. We want your input on how to make the most of this wonderful space. Keep up with updates on our social media or visit the Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve webpage. For a trail map, click here.

We can’t wait to see you there!
