Discover Oro Valley’s Talent: Artist Jan Sennewald

Local Artist Brings a Touch of Magic to Oro Valley

Meet Jan Sennewald, a talented artist in our community who works with acrylics, watercolors, and pastels. Though she started out as a representational artist, Jan’s journey has led her to embrace abstract mixed media. She loves playing with color, texture, and form in imaginative ways. She believes there’s a touch of magic and originality in every piece, hoping each viewer feels it too.

Jan’s passion for art began at home, inspired by her mother’s encouragement and talent for drawing. Her artistic journey includes home lessons, college courses, and workshops with renowned artists like Bob Burridge and Skip Lawrence. These experiences have shaped her unique style.

After a successful career in human resources, Jan now shares her love for watercolor by teaching beginners in California and Arizona, including the Highlands area. Her work has been showcased in solo exhibitions locally and in galleries like the Friends of the Arts Gallery in Carmel, California. She’s an active member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild (SAWG) and the Contemporary Artists of Southern Arizona (CASA), where she even served as President and organized workshops in Tucson.

Originally from California, Jan now calls Marana, Arizona, her home. We’re lucky to have her creative energy in our community!
