Celebrate Family Court Awareness Month in Oro Valley!

Family Court Awareness Month: November 2021

This November, Oro Valley is joining a nationwide effort to shine a spotlight on the importance of family court systems that put children first. The folks at One Mom’s Battle (OMB) and the Family Court Awareness Month Committee (FCAMC) are working hard to raise awareness about the need for a family court system that prioritizes child safety.

The FCAMC is on a mission to educate everyone involved in the family court system—from judges to lawyers—about the crucial topics of domestic violence, childhood trauma, and post-separation abuse. They believe that more education and training for these professionals can make a real difference.

Research is key to making informed decisions in family courts. The FCAMC emphasizes the importance of empirical studies like the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study and others. These studies provide valuable insights into how high-conflict situations can impact children, helping courts make decisions that truly serve their best interests.

Driven by a passion for positive change, the FCAMC hopes that this month of awareness will lead to a better, safer future for children involved in family court cases.

Mayor Joseph C. Winfield proudly declares November 2021 as Family Court Awareness Month here in Oro Valley.
