Get Involved in Oro Valley: Join a Town Board or Commission!
Are you passionate about making a difference in our community? The Town of Oro Valley is looking for residents to volunteer on various boards, commissions, and the newly established Health Care Benefits Trust. These groups let you dive into town affairs and contribute to the local government.
To join, you need to be an Oro Valley resident, attend the scheduled meetings, and complete the Town’s Community Academy during your term. If this sounds like you, check out the application process on our website.
Here are the current openings:
Health Care Benefits Trust
We have three spots open on this newly formed committee. The Trust manages funds for the Town’s self-insured insurance programs. If you have experience in finance, employee benefits, health care, human resources, or risk management, we’d love to hear from you. Trustees meet in July, September, January, and several times in late February and March at 10 a.m.
Historic Preservation Commission
Want to help preserve Oro Valley’s history? The Historic Preservation Commission has one opening for a three-year term. This commission works to safeguard historic sites and artifacts. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 5 p.m.
Planning and Zoning Commission
If land use and town planning interest you, consider joining the Planning and Zoning Commission. There’s one position available for a two-year term. The commission meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. and advises the Town Council on issues like zoning and land requests.
Tucson-Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee Representative
Love cycling? Represent Oro Valley in this joint committee, which serves as an advisory body for cycling matters in Pima County and the City of Tucson. Meetings are at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month.
Public Safety Personnel Retirement System Board
One citizen position is open on this board for a four-year term. The PSPRS board ensures a fair retirement program for Arizona’s public safety personnel. Meetings are at 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every other month.
