Discover Vistoso Trails Master Plan: Open House Jan. 25

Check Out the Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve Open House

Hey Oro Valley neighbors! Mark your calendars for a special open house event on Wednesday, January 25, at the newly spruced-up Garage at Steam Pump Ranch located at 10901 N. Oracle Road. This event is an all-day affair, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., so feel free to pop by whenever you have a moment.

At the open house, you’ll have the chance to dive into the Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve Master Plan Community Input Report. This is your opportunity to see what your fellow community members have shared during past meetings and to voice any thoughts you might have about the future of this wonderful 202-acre open space.

Last November, a team from Sites Southwest visited Oro Valley for site observations and chats with locals. They held several meetings to capture residents’ dreams and visions for the Preserve, plus they collected over 600 responses from an online survey. They’ve now wrapped up their analysis, and the open house is a great chance to ensure nothing was missed in the feedback.

If you want to take a look at the Community Input Report before the open house, you can find it here. For those who can’t make it to the open house, you can still have your say by emailing your comments to project manager Liz Cole at [email protected].

Looking ahead, Sites Southwest will present the first draft of the Master Plan to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on February 21 and then to Town Council on March 15. The final draft will go back to PRAB on April 18 and to Town Council on May 3. These meetings are another chance to share your feedback, so be sure to stay engaged.

About Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve

For those new to the preserve, it’s a beautiful open space perfect for walking, biking, and bird watching. Once the Vistoso Golf Course, the Town of Oro Valley acquired this scenic spot in summer 2022. It features a 6.2-mile path with stunning views of the Catalina and Tortolita mountains. You’ll be treated to diverse desert plant life and plenty of wildlife sightings. The preserve is open from dawn until dusk, and you can find temporary parking at 945 W. Vistoso Highlands Drive.
