Oro Valley Reimagines July 4th Celebrations with Dazzling Fireworks
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the need for social distancing, Oro Valley has decided to cancel its usual July 4th Celebration. But don’t worry! The Town is planning a spectacular fireworks display launched from the Community and Recreation Center.
“We’re using larger fireworks this year, so they’ll soar higher and be visible from all over town,” shared Kristy Diaz-Trahan, the Parks and Recreation Director. “While we can’t gather in one place, we can still enjoy the show from our homes and celebrate together under the same sky.”
To give everyone a sneak peek, there will be a fireworks test on Thursday, May 28 at 8:30 p.m. This test will help folks figure out the best spot to catch the show on July 4th. The fireworks will be launched from the fairway of Hole #1 on the Conquistador Course, right by the Community and Recreation Center. Remember, no spectators are allowed on-site for either the test or the main event.
Here’s the scoop on the test launch:
– When: Thursday, May 28 at 8:30 p.m.
– Where: Community and Recreation Center
– Note: No onsite spectators allowed
The Community and Recreation Center was picked for its central location and elevation, making it an ideal vantage point. This year, the Town will use both three-inch and four-inch shells, with the grand finale featuring only the larger ones, reaching up to 400 feet in the air.
