Exciting news for families in Oro Valley! The playground at James D. Kriegh Park is getting a complete makeover with brand-new equipment, a fresh play surface, and a shady spot to relax.
Before all these new features can be added, the current playground and ramada need to be removed. So, mark your calendars—construction will start on February 7th, and the area will be closed during this time. If all goes as planned, the new playground will be ready for fun by late March.
The current playground has been around for more than 20 years. Through the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process in 2020-2021, it was determined that the equipment needed an upgrade.
Community members played a big part in choosing the new design. Over 400 residents shared their thoughts through a survey, and with more than 65% of the vote, the winning design was chosen.
Keep an eye on the Oro Valley Parks and Recreation Facebook page for updates on the construction and reopening dates. In the meantime, you can still enjoy playtime at other local playgrounds in Naranja Park and Riverfront Park.
