WHEREAS, emergencies can arise at any moment that necessitate the quick action of police, fire, or emergency medical services; and,
WHEREAS, in times of emergency, the swift response from police officers, firefighters, and paramedics is essential for safeguarding lives and protecting property; and
WHEREAS, the safety of our dedicated police officers and firefighters relies heavily on the accurate information provided by citizens who contact the Town of Oro Valley emergency communications center; and
WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators serve as the first point of contact for our community with emergency services; and
WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators play a crucial role as the main support link for our police officers and firefighters, keeping track of their activities via radio, supplying vital information, and ensuring their safety; and
WHEREAS, each dispatcher has shown remarkable compassion, empathy, and professionalism in their roles over the past year.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph C. Winfield, Mayor of Oro Valley, do hereby proclaim the week of April 13th – 19th, 2025, to be
NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK
in the Town of Oro Valley, in recognition of the invaluable men and women whose commitment and professionalism help keep our town and its citizens safe.
