Community Alert: Stay Vigilant for Stranger Approaches

The Oro Valley Police Department wants to alert residents about a concerning situation involving a stranger approaching young children. Recently, two seven-year-old boys had an encounter while riding their bikes. They were ahead of their parents when an older man with a dog approached them. He asked if they wanted to go home with him, but the boys wisely refused, and the man left the area.

The man is described as being in his 70s, white, about 5’10” tall, and weighing 160 pounds. He has white hair and was walking a medium-sized fluffy dog, white and brown in color.

This incident is the second of its kind in a week. It’s unclear if these occurrences are connected or if different individuals are involved. The Oro Valley Police urge everyone to stay alert. If you notice anything suspicious or have any information regarding these incidents, please call 9-1-1 immediately.

Parents, it’s a good time to remind your children about the importance of not talking to strangers and how they can protect themselves. Our goal is not to create fear but to ensure our community stays informed and safe.

The OVPD Criminal Investigation Unit is actively looking into these reports. Your cooperation and vigilance are greatly appreciated as we work to maintain safety in Oro Valley.
